Indulge Yourself at the Chalet

Built in 1910, the Chalet exudes a warmth, charm and atmosphere that you won't find in most hotels. Our friendly, country-style hospitality will help you to relax and forget the pressures and stress of the outside world.

Situated in one of the most spectacular locations in Australia, you only need walk out our front door to experience what makes Mt Buffalo National Park so unique. Of course, with so much to do inside, you don't even need to leave the Chalet. Some of our regular guests choose to just relax, read, have a massage and simply enjoy the charming ambience and spectacular views. Just park your car and relax, most activities are within walking distance and can all be organised by our friendly team.

Relaxing meals are another highlight of staying at the Chalet. The Grand Dining Room serves hearty breakfasts and traditional country fare dinners  utilising a  range of regional produce and regional wines to compliment your meal.  We also have a fun Kids Menu.  Our Manfield’s Café is open during the day providing devonshire teas, light lunches and packed lunches or gourmet baskets for that bush walk. So whatever your taste or budget the Chalet can cater for everyone.

After dinner, retire to one of our three guest lounges, sink back into a cosy leather lounge, play a game of scrabble or cards,  or have a few drinks with friends in the Buffalo Bar and in the starlit skies.

Tower Rooms

Once known as the Commissioner’s Rooms (Victorian Railways Days) these rooms are undoubtedly the most spectacular rooms in the Chalet. Very popular with honeymooners and those looking for a real treat, our luxurious tower suites are upstairs (one or two flights of stairs) and offer the most commanding views in the Chalet. Spacious Tower suites offer king or queen size beds, big armchairs and private bathroom facilities with a bath.

View Rooms

Our traditional View Rooms (on the upper level - up two flights of stairs) offer stunning views out over the Chalet's gardens and across the breathtaking Ovens Valley below. All rooms have private art deco style bathroom facilities, king or two single beds, and even boast magnificent old baths.

Heritage Rooms

Heritage Rooms are our lovely renovated rooms that have gorgeous bathrooms, two have a bath, bedding ranges from queen, two singles or a king bed. These rooms do not have mountain views but are sought after due to their delightful renovations whilst still maintaining the Victorian era feel of the Chalet.

Classic Ensuite Rooms

Our Classic Ensuite Rooms, are an upgrade of our traditional guesthouse rooms, maintaining the original charm of these early 1900's rooms with the convenience of your own bathroom facilities. Our ensuite rooms range from single through to larger family rooms and due to the structure of the Chalet, all have a charm and character of their own. These rooms are divided into two categories Classic View Rooms and Classic Standard Rooms and although are the same standard of room one has an outside view the other does not.

Guesthouse Rooms

The traditional style rooms at the Chalet. These rooms were designed to be slept in; the rest of the time was spent socializing in the guest lounges, around the billiards tables, out on beautiful walks or over a long meal in the Grand Dining Room. Our Guesthouse Rooms all contain a washbasin and a comfortable bed. Separate bathroom facilities are shared amongst a small number of other guests.

Note: Guesthouse Rooms have shared bathroom facilities and no refrigerator.
